First Take Film Acting

Join Elizabeth Lavender for ActLab, a four-week, Meisner-based film acting class that helps students trust their instincts and perform truthfully in the moment. Through fast memorization, cold reads, and live coaching, actors learn to respond naturally to their scene partners without relying on predetermined movements or pre-planned emotions, building spontaneity, emotional connection, and confidence on camera. Each session builds toward a final on-camera audition in a simulated casting environment, where students perform prepared scenes and gain a new perspective by serving as the reader for fellow actors. Offered monthly in small groups to allow for individual feedback, ActLab encourages growth, resilience, and a deeper commitment to the craft.
